Course Information:

This training teaches adults who work with youth to recognize the signs, symptoms and dynamics of child abuse including physical abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse and neglect. Perpetrators, the grooming cycle and how to report suspected abuse are also discussed. This course meets the requirements of Utah’s Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Training Law (HB 286).

Child Abuse Prevention

After completing the course, a copy of your certificate should be submitted with your critical policies signature form, and given to your supervising administrator.

Overview:

This course is required every 2 years.

Purpose:

Utah State Legislature's House Bill (H.B.) 286: Child Sexual Abuse Prevention requires the following actions:

  • requires Local Education Agencies (LEAs) to use the instructional materials approved by the Board to provide child sexual abuse and human trafficking prevention and awareness training and instruction of school personnel in elementary and secondary schools.
  • Utah State Board of Education has approved instructional materials from the following provider for child sexual abuse and human trafficking prevention.
